SECOND ANNUAL MARTHA'S VINEYARD DOG PARADE!

STEPPIN' OUT . . .

The Second Annual Martha’s Vineyard Dog Parade, sponsored by Good Dog Goods, will be held Sunday August 22 at 6:30 in beautiful Ocean Park, followed by the last Band Concert of the season.

WELCOME BACK, BO!

Bo Obama, the First Dog, arrives on the Island this week with the First Family! The parade is a great way for Island dogs to welcome back the First Dog.

We have invited Bo to attend with as many of his friends and family as he would like.

MUST LOVE DOGS . . .

Mya Perez and her best friend and helper Christian Turner will lead the parade with Reggie, a champion Norwich Terrier. These youngsters were invited to marshal the parade by Karen Weitz and Jim Kopf, who won the post of marshal at the Possible Dreams Auction.

In yet another example of how Possible Dreams is the "gift that keeps on giving," Karen and Jim wanted a youngster from Martha's Vineyard Community Services Early Childhood Program—one who REALLY, REALLY, REALLY loves dogs—to enjoy leading the parade. That's Mya!

Mary and Greg Orcutt offered their dog Reggie for Mya and Christian to march with because he’s just the right size and all three of them are five years old!

BLESSINGS . . .

Here’s who and what else will be there:

• Calvin Paris, our good friend who first suggested the Island should have a dog parade
  
  
• Reverend Jeff Winter, pastor of Faith Community Church, who will bless all the dogs, accompanied by his wife Judy and their Westie Aspen
  
  
• Ed Rogers, our amazingly talented trumpeter and humorist
  
  
• Marty & Joanne Homlish with Chappy, their young yellow lab who was last year’s fantastic First Ever Grand Marshall, staunch supporters of Possible Dreams
  
  
• Kate Feiffer, our own Island author, who will read her fabulous children's books
  
  
• Lisa Vanderhoop, our 'phoDOGrapher' and creator of the Vineyard Seadogs Calendar
  
  
• Treats for all dogs and pick-up bags for all dog handlers from Good Dog Goods
  
  
• Fresh water donated by Chilmark Spring Water

The parade will be filmed by MVTV for broadcast on local access TV.
